After missing the start line last year, it felt really good to be back at the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2026!
Going into the race, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. My recent training block hadn’t been specifically geared towards a half marathon, so there were a few question marks around how I would perform. Add to that a couple of niggles in the final week, including a back strain, and my expectations were fairly modest. The priority was simply to have a good, solid race and finish strong.
A personal best wasn’t really on the cards this time around. Or so I told myself! Somewhere in the back of my mind, though, a little voice was still holding on to a secret sub-1:40 goal.
The race started well, and I felt comfortable through the first half. Things got a little tougher in the middle, and I lost some momentum. I tried to settle back into my rhythm towards the final stretch, drawing energy from familiar faces and old friends cheering from the sidelines. Those little moments of encouragement can make such a difference, especially when the legs start questioning your decisions!
The finish clocked in at 1:40+, not quite the timing I had secretly hoped for, but a good, solid effort and, more importantly, a starting point to build on.
Not every race needs to be about chasing a personal best. Sometimes, it’s about showing up, trusting the process, working with what you have on the day, and finding your way back to the start line.

We build from here!
Already looking forward to what the rest of the season has in store. There are more miles to run, more goals to chase, and plenty to look forward to.
Onwards and upwards!
