It’s summer training time and the time to complain about the weather. Once the ‘heat’ days of May and June is over, it is the heat and humidity time here in Delhi in July!

While I am grateful I am no longer feeling like my face is on fire, this year’s conditions are on another level. Imagine trying to run in 35°C, 85% humidity, and an AQI of 500. It’s hard to believe these are the conditions we’re expected to train in. Even after a few spells of rain, the air quality remains terrible.
I am struggling to get out of my house… you wake up at 4 am and seeing the extremes, you think is it really safe outside? Obviously no! I have many many treadmill runs so far in July. I was happy to recover from the multiple fever attacks of June and start training in July. Now, I am worried about training in this weather and losing time.
But I’d rather have my legs moving on a treadmill than being out in unhealthy conditions when hard workouts need to happen!

Training isn’t always about perfect weather or perfect runs. Sometimes it’s simply about adapting, staying consistent, and refusing to lose momentum.
For me, that’s the goal for July: just keep moving and keep showing up.
