I leave for the UK in four days.
My marathon is in eight.
This should have been the time to focus on training, recovery, race nerves, and travel prep. Instead, most of May has been spent house-hunting in South Delhi.
My lease ends on May 31, and I decided to move after my landlord started introducing new terms and becoming a little too intrusive. I genuinely thought finding a house here would be straightforward. Turns out, it’s anything but.
After dealing with termites, mould, and water seepage in my current place, I had to be extremely careful about what I chose next. I didn’t want to walk into another stressful living situation.
But the bigger challenge wasn’t just finding a good house. It was finding one where owners were comfortable renting to a woman living alone. Even after agreeing to pay sky-high rents, some still seemed unsure if I could be “trusted.” One lady even asked me, “Why do you need such a big house?”
People outside Delhi would probably be shocked at how expensive renting here has become. And somehow, along with the prices, you also have to navigate outdated attitudes.
Anyway, after weeks of stress, I finally found a place.
Now comes the next challenge: moving. Since I will only return on May 31, there’s no way I can pack up and shift everything in a single day. So alongside marathon prep and travel packing, I also have to start boxing up my life before flying out.
Honestly, I have spent this entire month worrying about houses, paperwork, packing timelines, and logistics… while trying to hold together a marathon training block.

Hoping I can still find a little calm before race day.
