Another Trip Around the Sun

Another birthday… another trip around the Sun!

This past year has been a ride – work, Trail Femmes, my own training… juggling it all wasn’t easy, but I made it through. And somewhere in the middle of it all, I added one more hat: running coach.

I still can’t believe how fast the year went by. A quarter of it disappeared into planning Trail Femmes’ first-ever race – one of my biggest highlights. I thought the Boston trip would be the defining moment, but it turned out to be a race that didn’t go as planned. Still, I’m glad I got it done… and definitely not doing it again!

Another quarter slipped away with niggles, injuries, allergies, and then dengue which completely derailed the start of my season. It would have been amazing to feel strong and race, but luck wasn’t quite on my side.

And now here I am in Thailand on my 47th birthday, attempting my first UTMB race. I’m hoping it goes well even with my Strava and Garmin fitness graphs nosediving, and aiming to race harder 10 weeks from now.

I haven’t raced much in the last 12 months… but I have a long list of races lined up for the next 12. So here’s to another trip around the Sun – one that’s shaping up to be a very, very interesting year.
