October… the time we here in Delhi get ready for a new racing season starting with the Delhi Half Marathon. With important races in November and December I was looking forward to a pace test.
Training – done.
Bib – collected.
Bags – packed.
The excitement was real… until just hours before race day, when a sudden fever hit… later confirmed as Dengue.
It’s tough when a race you’ve trained for and looked forward to becomes a DNS.
Since 2013, I haven’t missed a single Delhi Half Marathon. So this one stung.

Recovery after Dengue isn’t quick. It drains every bit of energy. Decided to start running (slow and easy) after a ‘good’ blood test report when everything looked ‘improving’. But my doctor said a big NO… that was irresponsible of me not realising how bad it can rebound if body has not recovered properly. Some bonus miles today can wreak your whole season.
Now it’s all about discipline… resting well, focusing on nutrition, and letting the body heal fully.

October was a month to forget. I’ll be back stronger.
