September didn’t start well for me. Was starting to get annoyed with some allergies from the monsoon in August and that got extended to September…
I had rashes throughout and my cold was not going away… a bloodwork came back with some levels dangerously off limits and that got me really worried… Doc asked me for a reduced intensity of workouts… and, that was depressing!
For the whole of September, I couldn’t do a proper hard workout on the road. On the treadmill, I tried to push myself with some intensity, but honestly, it never felt the same. With races lined up from October, I was anxious and I felt underprepared and restless.
But slowly, I had to accept reality and shift focus. Instead of sulking, I tried to notice and celebrate the small wins. These micro-wins matter because:
- They created a sense of achievement
- Reduced friction of perfectionism
- Made me feel consistent
I am not counting the number of miles I ran this month or the number of pages of books I read or the number of healthy meals I have created… but I am counting the lessons. Sometimes, the smallest steps are what keep you moving forward… Whatever small things mattered on the day and that’s a win for me!
