Life’s Best Detours are Found Off-road!

I recently stumbled upon the quote, “Life’s best detours are found off-road.”
And I haven’t been able to shake it off since.

It made me reflect deeply on why I’m a trail runner. It wasn’t just because the best ultras happen on trails or because I went through a phase of being obsessed with ultrarunning. It’s something more.

Trail running feels like choosing the road less travelled; literally and metaphorically. It’s not the easy path, and maybe that’s exactly why it speaks to me. Out there, surrounded by nature, you’re not just running. You’re constantly learning, adapting, discovering new strengths, and uncovering parts of yourself you didn’t know existed.

Sure, I still train hard for marathon PBs. I enjoy that discipline too. But once you hit that goal time or cross that finish line, the question always lingers: What’s next?
With trail running, the challenge never ends. No two trails are the same. No two runs are alike. The journey is always evolving.

Taking this off-road detour in my running journey and founding Trail Femmes have been my best decisions in life. And I’m all in.
