That was a 5 star year!
Sometimes, life throws curveballs that test our strength in unexpected ways. 2023 ended with its share of disappointments, leaving me unsure of what to expect from 2024. But as the year unfolded, it turned into something extraordinary.
Certain achievements were planned, and I had put in the hard work for them. An age-category podium at the Tata Mumbai Marathon, winning the Vagamon 33km race, securing an age-category victory at the New Delhi (Half) Marathon, and conquering the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon while setting personal bests—these were predictable outcomes of effort and preparation. While they brought joy, I wasn’t emotionally tied to them.
What truly made this year remarkable were the risks I took and the unexpected journeys I embraced. Starting Trail Femmes, a trail running club for women, was one such leap. It could have remained a small circle of friends, but I chose to let it grow. I planned adventures, created new routes, and introduced many to the joy of trail running and exploration.
This year, I also ventured into coaching—a step I hadn’t anticipated. Though I’ve kept it minimal to balance my work commitments, it’s been deeply fulfilling. The process of learning, researching, and investing in a coaching platform has made me more self-reliant and confident in my abilities.
Most importantly, I’ve learned to say no—to negativity and to those who doubt my potential. I’ve stood by my principles, refusing to compromise or seek approval from anyone. That, for me, is a victory worth celebrating.
2024 also brought opportunities to travel, explore new places, and spend quality time with friends and family—all while clocking an incredible 3,666 kilometers of running.
So, was 2024 my best year yet? Or simply the best? Only time will tell. But one thing is certain—I’m grateful for every challenge, every triumph, and every moment that shaped it.
Thank you, 2024.
