With the marathon training block on, I never planned any winter races – half marathon or even a 10k like last year. The Delhi Half Marathon in October and couple of 10k tempo runs with smashing PBs were enough for me to prepare for the January Mumbai Marathon.
But when running friends asked me to pace a new race involving Indian army and supporting the veterans, I couldn’t say no. The race was on last Sunday and the week being a recovery week I didn’t mind pacing any bus. The initial plan was to pace the 50 min 10km bus. Eventually the organisers decided to start the 10k pace buses from 55minutes. So, there I was enjoying an easy outing helping some runners achieve their personal bests!
For a change it was not a race I was part of chasing personal bests. But the race being new and nobody knowing the prize money, i may have missed out on that. Looking at the podium timings I felt a bit of missing out 😃.
But, pacing this event was one of the most satisfying things i have done recently…

And yes, i ran holding the pacer flag in my hand… when the vests and flag holders are not available in my size, this is the best i could do 😅!
