Life on Road, Air and Running

Last few weeks have been a lot hectic with back to back trips! The first one was end of April with a team meeting in Heidelberg, Germany and the second one recently to Kerala, India for a conference!

As much as I enjoy new places, I hate traveling lately! Traveling means change of schedule – for your workouts and running and also your hobbies! I am also annoyed by the process of packing before the trip and unpacking and dealing with the sweaty clothes after a trip!

Work trips are straightforward for many! For me, i have to plan my route, the number of runs and the number of running clothes and gear! I always end up being the one with most luggage always! For the recent trip to Kerala, i had to pay extra for luggage!

Work trip most times also end up having late nights and then not so late start the next day. Meaning i need to manage my sleeping hours wisely to wake up really early for a run! Most of my work trips end with me being on a zombie mode due to lack of sleep. When i came back from Heidelberg, it took me two days to compensate the sleep!

Well, life of a runner is fun. It also means lot of juggling and managing time! To me, it is important to spend time with people while traveling and not focused too much on the run next day! Since i am on offseason now, i have skipped a run or two! What is important is not to stress much and enjoy the time spent in a new place and squeeze in a run whenever you can!

Seen on my run – cherry blossoms in Heidelberg!
Seen on my run – from hometown, Kerala

I’m finding balancing the books a little more challenging than before; it’s hard to get it right! Losing a run or two is frustrating but like you said, socialising is still important and (probably) just as good for the soul!
