A 10km PR after 5 years: Finally breaking stubborn barriers!

Yes, finally I did it. 10km PR after almost 5 years!

It was not a race, but a temp training run. I was in the industrial city of Kharagpur for work and found a wonderful stretch of flat road for my morning run. With a tempo run scheduled for the week, I went all out on the day and boom a PR!

Waiting for 5 years for a PR – that may sound a bit dramatic! But I was actually ignoring speedworks and leg speed for shorter distances since 2017 when I decided to start focusing on marathons and ultras. When the ultra and trail running bug bit in 2018, I didn’t look back. Until the pandemic!

That was when I started missing fast finishes and decided to work with a coach. It took a while, but finally I am getting there…
