Sydney Marathon: Race Report

In front of the iconic Sydney Opera House

Another runcation, another continent, another iaaf gold label marathon…

This time, it was not easy… The marathon course made us work… Inclines, declines, bridges, underpasses, harp turns (too many) and what not!

The change in elevation was too much for my knees… It started hurting from 24th km… Until then I was looking comfortable for a sub-3:50 finish… In the end managed a 3:57 finish…

The course was well-marked… Volunteers at every corner; none got lost… The hydration points (every 5 kms) were well stocked… They even had gel from 25th km point… I stuck with my own fast&up gels and didn’t try any of the GUs; nothing new on race day!

The weather was lovely… The only thing that kept me going…

Overall, great experience… Difficulty level: Sydney ranks #2 among my city marathon races… First is always Hyderabad…

Mandatory post-run 🍻
