Homemade protein bars

Yeah… I have perfected a recipe for this too!

Protein powders… we runners can’t live without them… post-run, post-workout, we take them religiously!

With my run-work-gym schedule, I generally end up with a number of hydration bottles in my kitchen sink; the pre-, during- & post- with the protein shaker hard to clean among them… so, I started thinking about switching to protein bars…

I hated the protein bars available in the market… you don’t know what kind of protein powder they use or how much they use… I like the taste of my Unived post rrun recovery mix and I made my own protein bars with it!

The recipe is simple. All I needed were stuff available at home! So, it was just mixing things for me ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ingredients (dry)

  1. 1 cup powdered oats
  2. 2 scoops of protein powder
  3. 1 pinch of salt

Ingredients (wet)

  1. dates (10)
  2. 1/2 cup peanut butter
  3. 1/4 cup honey
  4. Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)

Method

  1. Mix the dry ingredients and keep it aside
  2. put the dates in a food processor and make them to a smooth paste
  3. Add peanut butter and other wet ingredients to it
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients until it is a smooth paste.
  5. Transfer the mix to a square baking tray and freeze it for three hours
  6. Cut them to cubes or bars and here you go – your own homemade protein bars!

Note: The protein powder can be anything you use for recovery. Brand doesn’t matter. You can also add ingredients like almonds or melted chocolates!
